St. Bakhita vocational training centre admits girls and women from needy and vulnerable backgrounds to gain vocational skills in hairdressing and dressmaking. Students study for 12 months to get ready for a grade 3 NITA Trade Examination in December every year, as well as attending a 3-Months attachment from September to November to get real-life career experience. The teachers in these fields have the requisite qualification and vast experience in ensuring that the students in the hairdressing and dressmaking department acquire the best and accredited skills that meet the market needs.
Follow-ups and feedback follow soon after the attachment period as the students give a report about the experience- what new they learned, what they are required to do as well as challenges faced during their attachment. A gauge used by our teachers to measure quality in our training. The host organizations also give daily feedback to the teachers on each student’s progress during the attachment period.
